CNYCentral archival newsroom control position in Syracuse

About / Sean Sullivan

From breaking news
to center stage.

Built in the newsroom. Made for the moment.

Sean Sullivan

Production leader

I started in television news, where the next decision is never far away. Today I bring those broadcast instincts to corporate events, executive communications and live experiences. The rooms have changed. I still start with the people watching.

Today I oversee event and AV operations at Pfizer. This site is my own: an independent record of my background and how I work, not a Pfizer site or an agency.

    The Newsroom

    Developing the instincts.

At CNYCentral in Syracuse and FOX 45 in Baltimore, I produced live morning news, breaking coverage and live remotes. In Baltimore, that meant five-hour daily morning newscasts. The rundown mattered, but so did knowing when to stay with a story, when to move on and what the viewer needed next.

Those instincts started earlier at Temple University, studying Media Studies and Production and producing and directing sports content with OwlSports Update. Timing, camera choices and a clear story had to work together.

CNYCentral’s newsroom received Edward R. Murrow recognition for Overall Excellence during my tenure. That is team recognition, not an individual award.

    The Broadcast Studio

    Building the systems.

At TEN Events, I moved from Senior Webcast Producer into production management, then led Studio Broadcasts & Creative Services through March 2026. I directed programs, called shows, coordinated crews and vendors and built remote and hybrid broadcast workflows.

The systems were there to help people do their best work: a clear plan, dependable signal paths, prepared speakers and a remote audience that felt part of the program.

The Production Systems & Studio Build project documents the control room and studio work in my original portfolio.

    The Live Experience

    Bringing everything together.

Today I bring those broadcast instincts and operational habits to corporate events, executive communications and complex live productions. Creative planning, stakeholder conversations, vendor coordination and live execution all need to serve the same audience experience.

My current employment is Event Production & AV Ops Manager — Commercial at Pfizer. Produced by Sean is my independent portfolio of previous and selected work; it does not represent Pfizer, and no confidential Pfizer projects are public case studies.

My Disney College Program experience also shaped how I think about hospitality: everything a guest sees, hears and feels contributes to the experience.

How I lead

A crew should leave a show better than they arrived.

If a crew enjoyed the experience, learned something, and is proud of what we accomplished together, that's success to me.

  1. People should enjoy the work.

One of the things I care about most is what it's like to work on a production with me. I want people to enjoy being part of the team, and to be treated with respect from load-in to strike.

  2. Teach while we do the show.

I hope people walk away having learned something they can take into their next show. I want the team to understand why we're making a decision, not just what needs to get done.

  3. Lead by example.

I'm hands-on and I pay attention to the details. Being prepared, thinking ahead and putting in the work alongside the people I'm asking to deliver. Not asking for more than I'd give myself.

  4. The client's message comes first.

It's easy to get caught up in the technical side. The equipment working is the baseline. The goal is helping people communicate a message and create an experience that matters to their audience.
